Typhoons 2018

Another one is coming, next week!

Damn. Still getting hit by 50-80 knot winds, and gusts well above that. Rain pouring (spraying?) in through the window frame seams.

Normally the 2 o’clock quadrant is the worst, but this 6-7 o’clock is the serious stuff. Most of the island without power except hotels and hospitals with back-up generators. Could be a week before back to normal.

Dogs and cats are scared shitless, of course.

Sunrise and still going. Rain has mostly stopped but now getting masses of sea spray from a swell I would guess as 6-8 meters? Winds now around 30-40 knots.

Didn’t blow any windows, unlike a few neighbors. That’s never going to be pretty.

cute

Hmm. JTWC track has it passing well to the NE

It was predicted to the first typhoon to hit all four main islands…

Greenland? New Guinea? Manhattan? Any other clues

Bit closer…:joy:

You’re a sailor? I know you’re not but hey, a knot is something I put in a rope. Please clarify, translate into something people understand like Km/h or m/s

Not knowing how to convert knots in 2018.

Tell me, how many knots could you get in 1 meter of rope?

It depends: what kind of knot?

Unless it’s over 10 stone. Then it becomes 100 cubits to the quarter.

What is that in Acres?

I generally only ever work in hectares, but if it’s possible to convert to bushels I’m game.
