I don’t remember it. We might be getting another, though. Always a bonus.

Last year and the year before were very intense winds in taiwan (south east). Way stronger than most years, even some records recorded. The past 2 years in SE taiwan have been beyond extreme. 300km/h plus, with broken instruments (orchid island) to prove it. These late year typhoons, with the temp differences, are often really severe. Less so after the mountains, but if they hit Taiwan directly, it’s bad. Luckily we are far more developed to handle typhoons than say the Philippines (or haiti, cuba, jamaica etc). The Phillipines have had an even worse time than Taiwan these years, regardless of develolment and infrastructure and wealth. Even so, loads of people have lost home and businesses in Taiwan due to roughly this time periods typhoons last year and the year before. Doesn’t get news for some reason, but it’s real. I lost my house last year as well. As well as farms and most people we work with lost all their farms as well. Pretty serious. People panic again in the east after nearly a decade hiatus of strong typhoons. They are back, and people are remembering once again :frowning:

Edit. Last years massive devastation was on Halloween. I know because in the middle of a ghost movie on halloween, and government workers comforting us the evening prior, we got locked in and our roof blew off. No power or road access for days. Started October 31 at night and lasted a couple days.

I kuch prefer taiwans typhoons on the western side of the country. So much easier to manage heavy rain than crazy wind

That is because the damage was not in the capital.

To be clear, by typing those words I am not saying I like it or agree with it.

Looks like another typhoon starting and currently predicted to hit northern Philippines Fri/Sat but of course could change direction towards Taiwan.

Yeah, and Cebu already looks in a bit of a state from the current one.

A tropical depression southeast of Taiwan has developed into Tropical Storm Fung-Wong, but its path and potential impact remain uncertain, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Thursday.
The storm could start affecting Taiwan by next Tuesday, bringing rain, but the severity will depend on its path, the CWA said.

The projection I’m seeing on wunderground indicates a direct smash into Luzon (Category 3 strength typhoon) and after that . . . moving toward HK?

I guess we’ll see . . .

Windy has a couple of models that have it hitting Kaohsiung and then across to Taitung. Another one has it going up the Strait. Pretty odd.

Yeah I’m not battening down any hatches just yet.

Late autumn typhoon, terrible rain. Hope they take an earlier precaution on evacuations to keep people safe

Yikes

Still waiting till Sunday to decide what clothing I should wear if it arrives

So basically, a direct hit? And from the south is not good, if my understanding is correct, as there’s no mountain range slowing/stopping things.

It will loose it’s strength significantly after passing the mountains in Luzon, and will not regain strength while it turns.
Might have a hell of a lot of rain though …
But, predictions are all over the place after it passes Luzon, not sure it will come out way …
