Nobody here has said there are no racist Dems. Nobody here has said there are no racist union people, either.
Is it uncharacteristic? Yes, I believe so. But it doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

I have yet to meet one. Maybe one day.
In my own history of living in the rust belt, most blue collar union laborers I knew ( which was a fair % of my home town’s population ) were racist and homophobic. That was one reason I was so happy to get the hell out of there, that and the snow.
I never realised that snow was racist. But now I think about it, it is very white.
This is just typical Repub deflection. In the past week at the primaries we have seen the audience twice give a rousing cheer: once for Rick Perry announcing how many people his state has executed and another, even more sickeningly, over someone who died because of a lack of health insurance.
Pointing the finger back and sputtering “but yous got racists in the unions” is all they have. Desperate and disingenuous.
I don’t see any difference between the racists in the Tea Party and the racists in the Unions. Why do you? Unions overwhelmingly support Dems. Is that cool with you, that being that racism is very much alive in Unions.

I though the only difference was between the racists who admit they are and those who deny it. In my experience either type can take it to extremes. I try to keep msyelf to racism lite.

I’m about as liberal as they come and if I were American would probably vote for the Dems. That said, in Australia some of the most racist, homophobic people I’ve come across are the blue-collar, union workers so it comes as no surprise that the same is evident in the US.
