Unpaid Smoking Fine When Leaving Taiwan

Do they check outstanding fines in the airport e-gate?

No…unless it’s somehow immigration related.

Even if I have an ARC?

What about exitting with smoking fines and having an ARC?

You should pay your fines before leaving the country.

But will i get denied at taoyuan airport if i had those unpaid? In terms of exit? And especially in the e-gates?

Possibly. How much are the fines and how long overdue are they?

What part of no are you failing to understand?

I s

2000NTD in 30 days, they’re not overdue yet

Hey i’m just making sure.

Fleeing the country to avoid a NT$2000 fine seems a little excessive. For that amount, may as well pay it IMO.

I figured the ones for smoking near convenience stores etc.? From memory they go up to NT$6k (?), so it seems OP has gotten off lightly. (Well, not that lightly, given that smoking near convenience stores still isn’t unusual.)

Just asking. No i will pay the fines, i mean what if i dont

2000NTD fines

If fines are unpaid, it will just be taken out of your bank account, with some bank fee added to it.

But you really should quit smoking… I understand it’s hard, but it’s worth it.

You got fined multiple times for smoking? You must be the unluckiest guy in taiwan.
