My word this man has some cheek.
The Euro was flawed from the start. Everyone must examine their conscience. I assume that means everyone but the virtual founder of the bloody eurozone.
But I sure that the creators of the Euro meant well so that is the main thing… they should not be blamed for any results that occur in reality because the most important thing is that they were trying to do something good.
To be fair to the guy, accepting that he was so incredibly wrong is brave. After all the run ins he had with Thatcher back in the late 80s, to now accept that the UK was right that a single currency without a single point of control was always going to fail certainly takes some balls.
Always best to stick the knife into yourself before someone else does it though tom. Eventually this festering pile would be put at his door, far better for him to say yeah I smelt it cos I dealt it and let the world rake through some other aspect of the muck. I think he has been quite clever in this respect.
Anyway, killing it off is the best solution now. As long as the investment bankers get their bonuses cut, their savings dipped into and their celery garnished (thanks to Krusty for that one) for years to come, it won’t have been such a bad jaunt.
