Urologists in Taipei

I really need good advice on urologists in the Taipei/NTC area. I’ve had a few unpleasant experiences with urologists in Taiwan. My first experience was when I went for a prostate check-up. I couldn’t believe that the only thing separating me from the rest of the patients was a little curtain. My second experience was as a lab where my results were discussed in front of the doctor’s kids who were playing in the office. So, for a long time, I’ve been putting my next visit off. This time it might be cancer, but without a doubt, surgery and the loss of income. I can handle that, but I don’t want to put myself in the hands of somebody who won’t be able to communicate effectively, esp. regarding option. Thanking you in anticipation of much-needed advice.

You need to go to one of the bigger hospitals, Adventist or Xinguang in Shilin. Standalone urology clinics in Taipei are mostly for STD treatment.

Taiwan is crowded, and so are the healthcare facilities, hence the curtain. Also, many of the smaller clinics might be family run businesses and the doctor had to look after the kid at the time you were there.

Even in the bigger hospitals when you visit the doctor you do not always get a private room, but there might be other patients in the same room while they do the checkup.

I dont think you need to worry about the kid hearing your medical records.

Just talking with local friend about a ‘what if scenario’ and where is the best cancer hospital.
He mentioned this one in Beitou.
Part of Koos Group/Chinatrust.
One of the Koo sons died of cancer and hence why the family started it.

Lack of privacy is the norm in Taiwan even when visiting top doctors.

I like this true clinic near Da-an Park and urology department is highly rated. Private room with door closed for doctor visits. It’s not some street side pop up.

Shu-Tien Urology Ophthalmology Clinic is a famous one.

In terms of cancer diagnosis and treatment, I would suggest you to go to medical centers in Taipei.

The Urologist in the hospital I work for (Tri-service General Hospital) is good.
Our hospital is also famous for surgery. We also serve the general public.
You can visit Dr. Meng. He speaks good English and he is a very nice guy!

Some doctors at this hospital in Tienmu have good reputation. It’s the crowded hospital style. They see a lot of patients, so lots of experience.
