US army halts gender neutral fitness test as women struggle

IMO, this new test is better than the old one. But maybe weird to base all promotions on it as not all roles are combat roles. If you’re a front line grunt where physical strength can be the difference between life and death for you and your squad, scoring well should matter. But I don’t see how someone with a desk job or flying a drone would need to deadlift a lot of weight as long as you pass.

Here is the actual test explained by the US army.

Army Combat Fitness Test.

An army officer told Military.com: “We have to figure out a way to make it fair to both genders.”

Special effects is the answer. I can’t remember the last time a woman lost a fistfight with a man in the movies.

The other problem is war. That problem could be solved though by only sending men into combat.

Women make good snipers, I think small body size and patience help in that respect, plus the dressing up in leafy costumes

They’d have to screen for an aversion to bugs and spiders though, which is going to reduce the female sniper pool a lot in my experience.
