Seems Sen Boxer is on the loose and has added a rule to a bill that might pass to make you unable to renew if you owe the govt money, which seems like a slippery slope to being unable to renew or get one if you have outstanding student loans.

I read the article and I don’t quite see the slippery slope here. This was all about taxes and funding the roads, not about loans. Could it be going in that direction? Maybe, but we are not there yet and I doubt things are headed in that direction any time soon.
Yeah, if you owe more than 50K in unpaid taxes. I think we’re safe.
Not to hard to see them making it the same for student loans. Student loans were made non-dischargeable debt after abuse by law school graduates who would promptly file bankruptcy to wipe out their law school debts.
Prior slippery slope laws:
Clean Water Act
Jim Crow laws
Do I need to go on?
Rich? Pay your taxes.
Poor? Pay something…anything.
To be expected, and yes, you can expect more and more provisions to be added in the future for casting an ever widening net.
And Corzine is walking the streets after losing over a billion dollars, much of it belonging to farmers. He, like so many of his ilk, has connections.
