The article was in the IHT on Nov. 2. Apparently someone figured out that all those out of work blue collar workers could be quickly retrained to make the blades for wind turbines. According to the article, the weight of these blades make it too costly to ship it. It’s more efficient to build a new factory than ship from an existing factory. In addition to wind turbine blades, other green tech items like solar panel factories are also taking advantage of the surplus of trained workers.
