Got questions…
I am an indonesian citizen, married to a taiwanese, who is also a US citizen, working here on contract.
We are thinking of applying immigrant visa for me.
Q1. Should we apply at the indonesian US’s embassy or we can do it here in taiwan. Our marriage registration is done in Indonesia but is legally certified by TECO there.
Q2. My husband already add me into his household registration here and I am currently processing my ARC, in between, am i eligible for the national health insurance coverage?
Q3. While i am waiting for ARC through spouse, can i work?
Kucing, the bahasa of cats!!!

Immigrant visa … For where? Indonesia? USA? Taiwan?
What is your ARC based on? Joining family? Employment? Full time student?
Legally, no.
Dear Hartzell,
sorry of my unclear questions:
We are planning on applying immigrant visa I-30 and eventually US green card.
Taiwan ARC is based on joining family here, personally, I am still not very certain if i want to reside in taiwan for a long period of time. I was studying in the US in the past 5 years, so felt more connected there. So, me and my husband think it is good to get the ARC, and just in case, US immigrant visa on hand.
Hi guys, I’m new to Forumosa, I have read a few posts and seems like it’s very helpful.
I have dual citizenship U.S. and Taiwan but currently using the Taiwan passport. I have a fiance lives in Indonesia we want to get married in Taiwan, we have been trying to apply visa for her to come to Taiwan but seems like it is impossible for Indonesian to get a Taiwan visa.
- If I marry her in Indonesia, which she is Muslim, I know I have to convert to her religion, what is the procedure? How long?
- If I use my Taiwan passport to enter Indonesia after marriage what happens to my Taiwan passport? Am I able to keep it? Is she able to come back to Taiwan with me?
After all I really don’t want to give up my Taiwan passport because I just regain it. That was a hustle to get it back.
We would like to live in Taiwan, but she will not be working. Is this even possible to get married in Indonesia and come back to live in Taiwan and will Taiwan prove the marriage…
Please help…
How did you even find this super old thread?
I am a US citizen who just married a girl from Indonesia and we got her visa through I-129F (Fiance/fiancee) visa. She is now in the USA and we are processing her Green Card.
She was able to stop over in Taiwan on her way here by simply going online and applying for a (free) multiple entry , 30 day Taiwan visa on the strenght of her US visa.
Taiwan allows Indonesian passport holders 30 days visa free. Its free and multiple entry for the 30 days. After the 30 days you can re-apply again online. Its easy. The caveat is that she must not have been a blue collar worker in Taiwan and must hold a valid US or European Visa. I think Canadian may also qualify.
But you are a Taiwan citizen as well , who is planning on marrying an Indonesian and residing in Taiwan. Actually that is quite common for Taiwanese to marry Indonesian girls and bring them to Taiwan. You can easily find out how to do this by asking around at the local neighborhood registrar office.
It would be another matter to get her a Green Card. You would apply at the AIT after you are married and do the I 130 visa process. It could take a year or two or even longer.
YOu must convert to her religion before you can marry her in INdonesia but you can marry her in Taiwan.
I understand from my wife that it is not very hard to get a tourist visa to Taiwan for Indonesians who have never been a blue collar worker in Taiwan.
