US trip part 2: never take your TWese wife to a casino!
Ran,

What do you think of state-sponsored lotteries?
I know it wasn’t at me so I hope you won’t mind me jumping in. In the UK from whatI have seen the state lottery has led to some institutaion beifiting greatly from the ‘good causes fund’ but has seen many more charities lose out thanks to lower charitable donations. It has also added another level of bureaucracy which we could have done without, and given us such joys as the Millenium Dome.

Count me as less than convinced!

One fun side though. when it first came out, my dear granda chose 6 numbers between 1 and 10 as he didn’t realise there were 49 numbers in the lottery. I love change!

If you knew that and you brought her to a casino, then you’re just asking for your just desserts my man ran.

Asking a Chinese to stop gambling is like asking the Chinese to stop being Chinese :stuck_out_tongue:

I took my Chinese in-laws on a gambling BOAT down in Corpus Christi, TX, and they were bored with it after 30 minutes. Tried a few slot machines, then spent the remaining two hours up on the sun deck waiting to sail back.

sounds like good in-laws sam

The busiest time of year for all the casinos around here is Chinese New Year. This year, one of 'em had Johnny Mathis for their CNY show!

Also, my cousin and aunt both profess to being addicted to gambling. Although I did win the first time I played Texas Hold’em, I just don’t have the taste for gambling.
