My wife’s cousin has an Apple Watch that was bought in the USA and given to her as a gift. The battery barely lasts half a day now. Does anyone know if she can get the battery changed in Taiwan at an Apple Store and how much it would cost? Thanks.
Take it to an Apple store and ask the staff there.
It shouldn’t be a problem to get it looked at here. Note that, as far as I’m aware, they don’t really “replace” the battery, but instead replace the watch with a new (refurbished?) Apple Watch of the same model.
Last summer I did this with an Apple Watch 6 at the Taipei 101 Apple Store, and it cost me NT$3350. I don’t know if the price varies based on the watch model.
Note: I swam with my “first” Apple Watch 6 for years without any issues. The refurbished or whatever version spent a few days dead after the fifth or sixth swim. It got better, but I haven’t dared swim with it since. Because of this, I regret the refurbishment and feel I should have just put up with the garbage battery for another year. Oh well; if she doesn’t swim with it, I wouldn’t be concerned about this at all. Until the watch died post-swim, I was very happy with the much-improved battery life.
Apple store, they will take it from there. If it’s under warranty/apple care this is not a problem, but Apple’s known to charge insane prices on part replacement.
I had a bad battery on a google pixel and Google just sent me another free phone, even though it’s out of warranty.
Third party shops (those phone repair shops) will do it for a lot less than Apple but I’m not sure if the apple watch has locked down repairs like the iphone does.
