Ok dude, I’m sure if you turn on Tucker they always throw out a disclaimer not to be xenophobic, instead of the continuous redneck-baiting about China and about the border.
Do they need a disclaimer? They present news based on their point of view just like any news organization.
Also China and the border ARE two of the biggest problems in our time. You have one country with tons of opportunities and another that isn’t as blessed. What will people naturally do? and yes, many bring drugs and crime with cases of women/children being raped near the border… Great that someone finally built a wall to curtail all that.
When I last went to Mexico I noticed that it is truly the most corrupt and dangerous country I’ve been too. No wonder why they flee to America…
Now China… Anyone living in Taiwan will know why China is a massive threat. No explanation needed. Furthermore it wasn’t until Trump that the US started clamping down on China!
Modern day Han Chauvanism is claiming the word Asian-American to mean Chinese.
When I was in middle school in the 90s we were specifically told to remember that not all of Asia is the same. Koreans, Japanese, Chinese are all different. I guess I can ignore that.
You have to understand there is a failure of imagination (and therefore denial) in some people here when you say something like this. There seems to be a widespread lack of ability for a sizable chunk of educated society to admit or even see the effect that rabble-rousers like Tucker have on other - usually more two-dimensional and incurious to put it nicely - people. They assume that, since Tucker didn’t elicit racist/xenophobic feelings in them personally, then everyone else isn’t affected either. Usually the person having this short-circuit is intelligent enough, they just lack social intelligence by failing to realize the (intentional) impact populist flame-fanners like Tucker, Bannon, Trump, etc have on the rank-and-file NPCs on the Right.
Or perhaps they do know the effect Tucker has on the masses but don’t care, and mentally wash their hands of it while thinking “come what may”.
I’m not familiar enough with his speeches but I’m familiar enough with the media manipulating his words. Is there any instance of him being racist in occasions similar to this one?
My girlfriend in Florida for 3 years was Chinese. She never had an issue with people treating her in a racist way. This goes for people that it was easy to know were leaning to the right of the spectrum.
For all the talk of asian hate look at who actually seemed to commit physical assaults on asian people and the thing they seemed to hold in common was not that they were right wing. It seems to be quite the opposite.
