Hello everyone…I think this might be wrong place to post this but what the hell…I don’t know where to post so here it goes…
ok I was born in the states…then 1 month later my family moved back to TW…so I grew up in TW till I was 13…then moved to the states with my aunt and uncle for school…(parents are in TW)…now I am 27 and I probably gonna quit grad school…hmm actually I already quit…and I am thinking about should I go back to TW or stay in the states…I mean I grew up there I kinda miss it…especially I left it there real early and all my memories are there…but here in the states that’s where everyone wants to come…people from all over the world try so hard to come here do I want to give it up? I dont’ know what to do…my closer relatives are in TW and I have some relatives in the states…but houses and businesses are in TW…hm I am just confused…kinda tired of living alone in the states and be all by myself…hmmmm
But are you going to be willing to give up all your freedoms to be surrounded by meddlesome family members? I think there will be a lot more pressure on you in Taiwan, but that’s just my opinion.
If you’ve been gone 14 years and haven’t visited you might be in for some ‘culture’ shock.

You should really be talking to your family rather than strangers. I can relate to what you are feeling though…I was born here and lived in Canada. My last place of residence was the US but after so many years, I quit my job, packed one bag and said goodbye to my family in Canada. I missed Taipei. I have no regrets. Follow your heart, not what “everyone wants”.
I’ve observed that in many cases of Chinese families, what the child’s heart yearns for contradicts what his or her family wants. As it is, okaythen01 probably already has a good idea of what his/her family wants and would advise. And one of those things was obviously making a “better” life in the US.
okaythen01, do some research about the kind of jobs you’d like to have in Taiwan, then try to see what qualifications they are looking for…before you give grad school the final ax.
Home is a place we all have to find child…
It’s not a place we eat or sleep.
Home is knowing,
Knowing your mind,
Knowing your heart,
Knowing your courage…
If we know ourselves,
Then we are home, anywhere.
