USB Modem Constantly Disconnecting on Macbook

Dear techie people, I bow to your superior knowledge and extend my eternal gratitude to you and bless your families–current, future, and ancestral–for any advice you can offer me with this increasingly annoying problem.

I use a Macbook with a ZTE USB modem for my Internet. It’s always been a bit slow, but, recently, it’s got much slower and keeps disconnecting–many, many times per day. Any ideas if there’s something I can do to fix this? I have a new dongle arriving this week, but I’m thinking there’s something else up.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

You probably have an OS that i have no experience with (i.e., newer than 10.4), but surely there must be a way to delete the settings file for the modem and start from scratch - sometimes that helps…

Google your problem. I suspected a USB port power issue and googling the title of this thread came up with this

If you have mac trouble post on a Mac forum. Not being a dick, just telling you what I’d do. You’d get more responses and solve your issue sooner. Good luck

Many thanks, both (appreciate the suggestion; I just thought that I could more easily communicate here).

I just tried the new dongle that I bought from yuli and switched to the other USB port, and it’s notable faster and hasn’t disconnected at all since doing that a few hours ago. So, not sure if it was the dongle or the port, but I’m not going to mess around with it to find out.

Thanks again.
