Used to live in Taiwan. Now returning but marriage arc (JRFV) expired 3 years ago

Hi All,

My Taiwanese wife and I left Taiwan about 4.5 years ago and we have been living in the UK. My marriage arc expired 3.5 years ago. So.. what’s the easiest way to return? Many many years ago, I was on a work arc, met my wife and then changed to a spouse visa arc, so I’ve never actually applied for a spouse visa from scratch.

My wife has maintained her household registration, but has been living here with me for the last few years. Will it be easier for her to move back first, get settled with an address and then me join her or would it be just as easy/difficult if we move back together at the same time? Just wondering about giving addresses etc..

Will I be given my original ARC number back, not that it matters? Plus is there any kind of financial requirement nowadays?

I’d be interested to hear from anyone who has been in this situation or is familiar with the process. Thank you!

Depends on when this was.

It can be done. I was away for ten years . I just paid an agent to do it. It requires going overseas, Manila in my case, to pick up the new permanent visa.

Your ARC number stays tied to your identity forever.

A few years back they changed the format of the ID number for alien residents. If your ID number has two letters in the beginning, then you will get a new format ID number, but the old one will be printed on the back of the ARC for reference.

Thank you for input. Appreciate it.
