Vaccination (BCG)

Hi all,

We moved from US, and our son in kindergarten has not had BCG yet.
When your kids came from countries which don’t have BCG as a regular shot, did your kids (and yourselves) take BCG here?
I did some net search, and saw both opinions that BCG is necessary and meaningless, and wonder how they are actually doing here.

Thanks.

BCG shots are standard here. As of 2006, Taiwan had about 15,000 new cases of tuberculosis every year. The same year 832 people in Taiwan died of TB.

Yes, you should vaccinate your children.

The main vaccination thread in Parenting is pretty long @ 47 pages. Must be something in there - search!

Thank you, cranky laowai and Nuit.
I will make an appointment for BCG.
