What requirements are needed in terms of licence/insurance etc for cars and motorcycles please?

For cars, a valid international driver’s license is usually enough, but motorbike/scooter rental places often demand a Taiwan license (although some won’t care and will be happy with a photocopy of your passport). Insurance? Maybe for cars, but for bikes? Hee hee hee! You break it, you pay for it.

They have several offices in Taipei. It would pay to take a translator with you if you can. They give 25% discount if you pay with Platinum Visa from a Taiwan bank.
