Visa Extensions

I am completing a contract at the end of December. I intend to spend 6 months learning Chinese and other things. In May I will go along to the tax office and around 100000 NTD should be transferred into my accont in July. But July is one month after my visa extension expires. In another thread someone said the extension can be extended one more time for 6 months. However, he was not 100 per cent sure.

Can anyone confirm that this one time extension of an extension is is correct? If so, I guess one can apply, as before, 30 days before expiry?

Yes, the visa office can confirm if that is true or not. Calling them is the best choice. They speak English and are very helpful.

Thanks, for the information. I just wondered if anyone on the board had ever gotten such an extension. Still worth checking tho as rules change.

I am in Taiwan on visitor visa to visit family and went to extend for 90 days but they only gave me 30 as my marriage certificate was not authenticated by TECO overseas (even though they granted me original visa without that). TECO is taking minimum 20 business days to authenticate now, taking me over my maximum stay. Grateful for any ideas. Can I, for example, seek change of status to employment seeking visitor visa? I meet those criteria so long as I can apply within Taiwan. I guess I may need to go out and then come back on new visa? A lot of time and expense with quarantine at both ends so I’d rather avoid if I can.
