Visa Issue still valid?

Hi!

I’m actually doing a volunteer job in Taiwan and I have a resident via until next year september. Unfortunally my project got financial problems and so they had to cut costs, which means fewer children and personal and teacher. and it seems like my organization couldn’t organize anything new, which is a "little’ problem for me… if ya understand…

But whatever my main question is even if I dont get a new job and everything. i would like to stay some months here in taiwan. maybe live in taipeh. i mean i still have my arc and my resident visa?

so is there a problem for me? maybe at the airport when i want to go back?

There are wiser birds than me on this board… but here’s my thought.

Really, your employer should notify the Labour Affairs people, who will notify the Foreign Affairs Police. Your ARC will be cancelled and you will be given notice to leave the ROC. You might not actually get the notice - mine was only sent to my ex-employer.

So excluding the possibility that you get another job, become a student or have other grounds to stay, I think there are two possibilities. One is that your employer doesn’t notify the labour affairs people. You say you are a volunteer… does that mean you’re not paid? In that case, surely they can keep you on, even if their cut backs mean you are not as busy as you used to be.

The other is they go ahead with the procedure. You can then go to the Foreign Affairs Police and ask them to let you stay longer. My circumstances were different and I actually only needed to stay a few more days. But I got the impression they could be quite flexible. Not sure they’d run to several months… But you could hold out for as much as you can get, then leave ROC and return on a landing visa (if you’re from an eligible country) for one month at a time. Or apply outside of Taiwan for a longer tourist visa.

I should add that as a UK national, when I enquired of Taiwanese rep offices overseas about getting a visa to come here as a tourist (I had a couple of reasons for this which aren’t important) I was told that a landing visa should be plenty enough. (One comment was “it doesn’t take a month to do Taiwan”, another one was “why don’t you just go to Hong Kong and return the same day”. The best was “maybe you can extend once you arrive” - er, no.) I gave up easily as it was never critical - I think from other posts others have had more luck.

ok i taleked to them , today and they said they will cancel it … . So what now going to foreign affairs police? where is one of those ? kaohsiung ? tainan?

It depends where you live… eg where I was, it was Taipei County, its Banciao.

Which station did you get your ARC from? Unless you moved since getting it, it would be that one.
