Anyone know the opening times for this office? Would it be possible for me to have a 60 day visa processed there in a few hours? Thanks.
I’m probably wrong, but I don’t think there is a visa office at HK airport. The only one I know of is the representative office in HK. If you go there and pay 420 HK dollars before 11 in the morning, you can pick up your 60 day visa at 1600hours.
However, 60 day visa’s are subject to how the staff feel on the day, your attitude towards them and the way you look. If you look like a tramp, then you may only get a 30 day. If you wear a shirt then you will probably get a 60 day - who knows, maybe more.
HK office is the moodiest office on the planet.
There certainly is a Taiwan visa office in HK airport. Chunghwa travel on the departures floor. They’re open into the evening. I went there stupidly thinking Chung Wha might have been a visa joint for China - that’s the next counter BTW.
The chappy told me they do Taiwan visas but since I don’t need one i din’t ask about the details.

Thanks mate, that’s what I needed to know.
What kind of visas can you get at the airport?Student or visitors or both.Who can get a visa there?
Sorry, I’m short on details. I’ve got no idea what visas they give or quite what they do but the chappy told me “visas for Taiwan” I don’t need one so I didn’t ask what kind of visa.
I’ll look into it next time I’m there.

There isn’t.
There is for People’s China Chinese only.
I tried 4 months ago, but…
Useful just for a card/slip of paper with the address in HK.[/color]
There is a counter right next to the China Travel Service counter that serves Taiwan visas. Just what kind of visa I don’t know.

Having executed my visa run yesterday, I can now provide a little more information:
[ul][li] The counter of which Huang Guang Chen speaks is readily visible, and will process 30 and 60 day visas for Taiwan, for foreigners
[/li]
[li] A 60 day visa from this counter will cost $200 HK (about $876 NT)
[/li]
[li] However, this process is not fast - we arrived at about half past six in the evening, and were told that a visa would not be available until 1:30pm in the afternoon of the next day (this was unfortunately useless to us, as we were returning to Taiwan that night)
[/li]
[li] The visa office in the Taipei airport is open 24 hours, but will only process 30 day visas - you can’t apply for a 60 day visa there (we tried, and were turned down)[/li][/ul]
