I’m planning to move to Taiwan in early December from Bangkok. I plan to find a job teaching, hopefully in Taichung. I’m curious about my visa options. My questions:

1 - Should I find a job first, and get a working visa from Bangkok? Or should I just get a 60 day tourist visa and then later convert to an ARC from within Taiwan?

2 - I was in contact with a recruiter who told me that I’d never be able to get a working visa from the Taiwan Embassy in Bangkok. Is this true? Or is he full of crap?

3 - Also, is it true I will need to show my bank statements for a tourist visa? Are all people asked, or is it fairly inconsistent? And how much would I need to show?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
