Visa run after divorce?

Hi everyone

My wife and I plan to get divorced this year. Fortunately it is a consensual divorce so apparently it will not be too complicated (…) but I will lose my ARC for marriage. My question is: right after the divorce, can I return to Taiwan with a visa run?
I can’t find any information about it.

Thanks in advance!

How long have you been residing in taiwan? Can you wait to get divorced until you have an APRC?

Do you have children?

Thanks for your answer! Almost 2 years but sadly we can’t wait until I have an APRC. I worry that the customs agents will be more strict because of my divorce and may they don’t allow me to get the visa run…

Yes, we have a son

Why do you have to do the visa run? You could ask to remain here based on your son, with an ARC.

If you have a custody of the child, you can get an ARC.

Not only with custody. Just to be around for his child.

Oh really?! How’s that? I was not aware there’s an arc for this case. I really don’t want to bother you, but… Would you mind to give me some information about this? Or some links? Thank you very much!!

Before you divorce, you need a lawyer or at least legal advice. Please go to the Community Center in Tianmu or the free legal advice in universities across Taiwan.

They put this in place due to too many people being kicked after divorce. Now they can stay and give a fight for their kids.

You can search here or we can come up with a few links…in a while. But understand you have rights, do not lose your AC, do not sign anything until your situation is legal and right by you. No one can force you to sign anything, OK?

Thank you guys all this information is really helpful

It could have been the case that NIA first-line workers rejected the extension application from Xiao Mei because they did not have a lot of experience dealing with such special situations and were thus not flexible enough to help.

The situation has improved during the last 2 years, but this sentence is so true and painful to read
