Wat? I’m not sure where I said she’s a policy maker lol.
She’s a government official relating to immigration. I asked her the policy regarding visa runs and she clearly explained the government does not see it as a problem.
I doubt they will take action in the future either.
If a significant amount of 90-day foreigners do so, you bet they will tighten the rules. All they have to do is copy the Schengen’s 90 days within 6 month period and it’s SOL. But if they’re tightening the rules, it means the trust has been lowered, making it harder for those of us whom are trying to get the particularly unfair laws relaxed.
what makes you think that the number of visa runners are gonna significantly increase? Especially after coronavirus, if anything I see the number getting smaller.
In my observation, very few people “like” teaching—at least not teaching English in Asia. Rather, they try and level-up into doing something else but, unable to succeed at that, make peace with their destiny.
I am here and not doing any of the above things that requires a visa like working, just visiting/living with my fiancee and can support myself from money I have in my bank account not current work. I get its abuse if you are doing things that you need a visa for, but they allow me to come in and out to visit friends which is what I’m doing. It is not abuse as far as I am concerned and apparently Taiwan agree with me.
For Taiwan immigration authority, you are not living here if you don’t get a resident visa and you go out before the last day of your visitor visa or visa exempt.
What could possibly be so difficult about understanding a visa(exempt) run?
Your stay expires, you leave the country and you come back. How hard could it be to understand?
I can’t imagine going for a daytrip/weekend trip to Hong Kong would be much different. I’ve done what I call a financial run because the government needed proof that the funds for my business were foreign so I needed to physically declare the money when entering.
It’s a false equivalence to compare pregnancies.
Leaving the country and entering is an objective task and anyone can do it. I can go and do it myself if I want to.
Pregnancies, pain, senses, etc… are only experienced by the person experiencing it. It’s subjective. You can tell me that something hurts. I know I don’t like pain so my understanding is limited to that you might not like it either. But I can’t feel your pain. I can’t see your colours. I can’t imagine why you’d prefer one colour over another.
But this isn’t even close to…understanding visa(exempt) runs.
