What vitamins or minerals or other supplements do you guys use to stay healthy? Especially folks gaining on 40?
My son was in hospital for 5 days or so, and in the commotion I forgot to take my regular supplies of vitamins. As a result, I feel like utter crap. For the record, I normally take a Multivitamin, 50mg of Zinc, a B-complex and 500mg of C daily.
What say the rest of you? Any Chinese supplements?
the one i’m taking is called TOTAL B SUPER,RNA and YEAST. it’s in a red, yellow, and blue box and i s available at COSMED.
i notice a real difference in my energy after about 3 days to a week. i take it after breakfast or dinner.
There are several vitamins that should be taken especially when the food is not covering the amount of vitamins needed.
First, take at least 5 fruits or veggies per day. This should be mandatory for all human beings.
Than, in order to fight the free radicals in your body, take ANTIOXIDANT, you can buy them in pills, or one by one by taking Vitamin C,D and A. Other elements are also antioxidants but those are the most common.
Also, good for your brain and wellness is OMEGA-3 which is fish oil.
I head that DHEA (following a serious French study) did some miracle for old people. The people of the test claimed less general body pain and better overall wellness.
That is what I can recommend to you, and that is what I personally take. I’ll tell you in 20 years if it did help
I eat fruit. I don’t know the brand name, but it comes in different colours, shapes, sizes, flavours. And I lick the exhaust of my scooter once or twice a week.
If you eat a fairly good diet, don’t abuse drugs, alcohol and take a lot of antibiotics, most folks will do well with a complete, read well balanced, multi-vitamin and frsh fruit everyday.
Its when problems occur that specialized nutrition or focused vitamin/herbal/supplement theraphy is advised.
I take a good multi w/a complete antioxidant group along with a Magnesium and calcium complex every day.
The multi helps maintain and the antioxidant helps my body deal w/Taiwan pollution.
The Mag/Calcium, which includes Vit. D (Cholecalciferol), Calcium (Carbonate, Asperate, Lysinate and Citrate), Magnesium(Asperate, Taurinate, Clycinate and Citrate) And Zinc(L-Optizinc) is for the brain and for sleeping.
Thats my basic nutrional intake.
I also am a firm believer in Green Foods - Spirulina, Wheat Grass, Chlorella, etc. Great nutrition and very cleansing for the body and blood.
I also agree that EFA’s are very beneficial. Thats Essential Fatty Acids - Omega 3’s, 9’s, etc.
1000mgs of Vitamin C is good for most people. There are a couple of different forms of it so use the one that is most tolerant for your body.
Regular exercise and sleep is a must as well as eating good food.
I have been in the human nutrition business for 20+ years and have seen a lot of fads come and go. Some good and most a waste of time and money. It always seems like it comes back to comon sense and reasonable expectations.
Trust me, if someone had invented a pill that woud instantly make a person slim, sexy and rich overnight, I would have been selling it a long time ago.
Vitamins C, B1, Bx, E, A&D, Calmag, Kelp and some protein powder.
Keeps me well all day long with a good night sleep.
When it’s really hot like the last couple of weeks I take a lot of Salt and Potassium.
I take a good multi, calcium, and E every day. Vitamin E really softens skin and hair noticeably…I have noticed a massive difference since I started taking it a year ago.
a bit off topic, sorry…but while we are discussing vitamins, I was wondering…is it better to take vitamins in the morning or at night? Or doesn’t it matter? Any experts out there?
Definitely in the morning. You should never take them at night. You should also avoid taking certain extra minerals like zinc, if you are already taking multivitamins, unless you have a deficiency. Too much is not good.
