Wack Things in Taiwan 2025

This story appears to be a warning to everyone.

These “oldsters” do as they do not merely because that’s how they’ve always done it, nor because of the priviledge afforded them by 孝, but because they are indeed protected by the local gods for whom they burn money and provide strippers.

Fight this seemingly backward and frustrating state of affairs without all the appropriate powers and you too may be dashed against the stubborn rocks of supersition and end up like that poor chap under a cement truck.

The guy driving the Vitara definitely cut-off traffic in the normal way common in Taiwan (like 3 or 4 vehicles went around him), but the other guy appeared to be speeding and it was probably this same reckless abandon that had him rear end a giant truck.

Not really wack, but highly unusual in Taipei. Just saw a man in broad daylight walking on the sidewalk puffing on a big fat cigar. :smoker:

Must be a trend, I’ve been smelling cigars a few times recently when out on the street.

Trying to jump on the US bandwagon after trying to jump on the Korean martial law bandwagon? They really seem to be the kings these days of the “this appears a tiny bit like that so it must be exactly like that (when actually it is nothing like that)” fallacy that seems so common here.

Indeed, that’s the norm. But really, this case is the exception. Old guy was in slow moving Suzuki, merges without issue and is going on his correct lane when this fireball crosses the mid line while taking a curve and to overcome two other vehicles, overcompensates, then merges abruptly and almost hits the old guy’s car. But he had plenty of room to pass the old guy…if he wasn’t doing 90 km/h or more. Too fast, too furious.

The Vitara cannot go too fast anyways. The other vehicles were at a healthy distance. The sedan was simply going too fast. Driving angrily.

My pet peeve in driving is not speed, I also go speed limit or less, but PICK A LANE! I am paying the karma for my dear old dad who, to this day, still drives down the middle, which was fine when his license plate was 160 but in current modern times is a bit taxing…

Song apparently thought it through. Amidst online backlash, Song hopped on the reply section and clarified why he put on the NAZI show. Song said he wants to reunite China under Chinese fascism (中華法西斯主義) for the glorious revitalization of the Chinese race.

KMT chairman Zhu Lilun said Song’s action was purely satire and was a way to dig at the fact that the DPP is the “Green Communists (綠共).” Regardless of whether DPP is actually Green Communists, deferring to satire can’t excuse Song’s action. Song also explicitly said he meant what he did. He also chanted “Sieg Heil” while he did the NAZI salute.

Actually that white car was at fault , he was speeding. It looks like he just overtook another car and didn’t slow down at all . Obviously unhinged and a dangerous driver.

A proper party would throw his ass on the kerb.

Hire a driver.

Well, had KMT’s troops been a little less useless, Hitler would have maintained his alliance with CKS. Hitler only ditched CKS for Japan because Hitler needed an ally that’s not useless.

Let’s not forget CKS’s “son” marched into the Sudetenland and Austria in his NAZI uniform, and was halfway to Poland before his dad recalled him.

Ok but the other son was in the Soviet Union at the same time. Think they didn’t much care one way or the other. And then the wife was basically American-Chinese.

His boss built a military school with Soviet money, and he was the headmaster, so he sort of had to send his son to the Soviet union.

When he sent his second “son” to Germany, he was the boss in charge.

Even more dangerous!

No. I didn’t. Instead, I ASSUMED based on my own daily travels. Apparently I am wrong. I’ll search out the video to confirm that I’m once again talking out of my ass!

Won’t stop people from failing to yield and entering the main road dangerously.

Ok. Watched the video. Old man in Suzuki departed the gas station and entered the main road properly. The younger guy in the white sedan was definitely speeding and also operating his vehicle in a reckless manner. The white sedan driver had no cause to beat the old man. The near miss was 100% the white sedan driver’s fault. He paid the price probably due to continued reckless driving and speeding.

I do think Suzuki didn’t have a proper view of his right side because following Taiwan great road design view to the right is completely blocked. He also seems in a rush to join the road.

White sedan driver was a menace to society.

Pitbull in the news again. This time in Pingtung an unregistered pitbull breaks loose and gets out of the owner’s home and attacks a nearby shiba and won’t let go. As the owner screamed for help people nearby came out with brooms and metal bars to beat the pitbull but it still won’t let go. In the end the pitbull was beat to death and the shiba died from it’s injuries. The pitbull owner says he picked up the dog when it was a stray years ago and didn’t know what breed it was. The owner also says that he can pay compensation for the death of the dog but also complains about the people beating his dog to death. The man may receive two separate fines one at 50k-250k and one at 30k-150k.
