Locals stand in front of open doors on the MRT. I donât understand this. Doors are open. People going into the trains, but thereâs always several people that go to the front of the open door and just stand there.
I canât tell the station or direction, but isnât that normally when theyâre waiting for the train that goes all the way, like to Xiangshan rather than Daâan or Tamsui rather than Beitou?
Usually when I see that itâs a busy time of day, and the seats are full, and theyâre waiting to be first on for the next train in order to get a seat. The other platform is either already too busy, or perhaps not in service.
I assume there are also other reasons, like waiting for someone.
And not just one person waiting, judging by your photo? Yeah, I donât get that.
Unless you mean there were free seats at the far end of the platform, not where theyâre waiting? After all, that other end of the platform is a LONG way! Wouldnât want to walk that far!
Random guesses: waiting for people; theyâre oddly picky about what seats they choose; theyâre early for their destination and figure waiting on the Danshui platform is more comfortable than waiting near their destination. Only the first of which makes much sense to me.
Donât get it either but whatever theyâre doing I really wish they would stand to one f*&king side when they decide they donât want to get on the train thatâs just arrived, whatever their reasonâŚ
Iâve sometimes found it hard to signal this. Iâm in line, but I want the Danshui train, not the Beitou train, so I shuffle to the side but try to otherwise stay at the front of the line ⌠and the queue behind me shuffles over too, apparently not understanding what Iâm doing, until the dam breaks and everyone behind me goes around me. Which was the intent the whole time!
I mean, thatâs exactly what I said originally, isnât it?
I thought your point above was that the Tamsui train always goes to Xiangshan and itâs only the Beitou train that stops in Daâan. I vaguely thought that was the case, but I donât often take the red line that far so wasnât sure of it.
Hot take maybe, nothing about this is wack. It basically doesnât affect anyone. If it really bothers you that much, you should go up to them and politely ask why they are doing it instead of stealthily taking pictures of people minding their own business.
Iâm guessing theyâre probably waiting for the other train that goes to New Beitou (ć°ĺć) or if that train goes to New Beitou, then theyâre waiting for the one that goes to Xiangshan? Itâs the same concept when waiting on the Orange Line where the line splits to 2 directions in 大ćŠé (DĂ qiĂĄo tĂłu), one to čć´˛(Luzhou) and the other one to čż´éž(HuiLong).
