That’s not why she died.
She was an accomplished and frequent hiker in that enjoyed to get out into the high mountains and wilderness. Unfortunately she had a bad accident and made the error of hiking on her own, then got caught in overnight rain exposed and died before rescuers could get to her due to the bad weather.

I assume she climbed in normal hiking clothes and only changed into bikini at the top of the mountain for social media attention.

This is the part I thought was relevant. I admit I know little about her motivations, and acknowledge that people do die regularly in Taiwan’s high mountains even without seeking social media likes and views.

Somehow I imagine that a committed young person may well be capable of walking more than 100 meters to get something they want. Who knows though, I may be totally crazy here.

This is correct. Climbed in normal gear, then changed at the top for a picture originally because she lost a bet to a friend. After the huge following and interest, she continued to do it.

Looking at the English news in Taiwan you’d be forgiven for thinking we lived in some sort of fantasy land where the ocassional bad sprite gets through.

The popularity of coke and Sprite when root beer is right there, and ginger beer or ginger ale are often available, has always bewildered me.
