Wack Things in Taiwan 2026

Grandpa Simpson move right there

Everytime i see men like that and i wonder what kind of women wanna marry such men in the first place. I see so many taiwanese men on road yelling, picking fights here and there, threatening people with bats while their wives are with them trying to control them.

Whoops typo .

That being said though it’s not too hard to find people yelling at bus drivers, but just the bus itself…maybe not.

0:20 of the video. His hands are a big tell.

I see you have been diversifying your performance art!

Hat tip to @tempogain .

More illegal construction waste dumping. 32,000 tons. Even includes construction companies digging up graves, ashes, tombstones, etc. during the Taichung DongFeng Expressway project and deliberately mislabeling them as just regular soil and illegally dumping them on farmland, slopes/hillsides, and ponds to cut costs. The Taipei based company was awarded the contract for the tunnel project for the expressway and decided to to cut costs by illegal dumping a lot of construction waste. It’s estimated that this illegal dumping saved them NT$ 65 million in disposal fees. Now 10 companies and 35 individuals are being indicted.

I’d assume that part of the paperwork required for those government projects includes submitting contracts / proof about how the waste is being handled.

But apparently, no one seems to check those kinds of things…

Let’s hope the fine will actually be higher than the amount they saved…

Question is if nobody was looking at the papers, or if somebody was looking the other way

I guess a fine of NT$1200

I suspect some hongbao, or perhaps a few nights at a local nightclub, can smooth the way.

Come to our famous 7/11s in Taiwan… where you can get “must buy” items like… gifts… specialties… Instant noodles… and of course our most prized national product, masks!!!

Fairly low effort applied for that one.

It makes sense though. There’s no food in all of northern Taiwan a Japanese person would consider eating, the air around Kaohsiung definitely requires a mask, central Taiwan is not so bad either way so you may as well get a specialty, and if you make it as far as Taidong you deserve a gift.

Or the company presented a plan and then simply dumped most somewhere else. Lots of farmland where no one visits to see what is happening with their land.

How about those couples managing a restaurant but letting their kids run rampant through the restaurant? You walk in and see kids running around between tables and fighting with each other. Parents tell them to stop but they don’t pay attention to the parents.

Like the one near my house we which we frequently go to. Some the older kid (around 6 years old) wants to act like a boss and will greet you when you enter. He gets your name and then screams as loud as he can back to his parents. Hard to believe a kid that small can scream that loud. Last time we were there my wife was as the water station when the younger boy (around 4 years old) pushed her out of the way so he could get some tea. The parents are very courteous with the customers but their kids can run around back and forth and even play fight with each other around the tables.

You don’t know many kids, do you?

I love matcha, so I feel like I have to go to my nearest PXMart and give the wacky cake a try.

Scary!

Watch out to not eat a Scotch Brite sponge instead!

If it tastes like dishwasher, it’ll be an improvement.
