Waiting for Forumosa

Quite often, and usually only at lunch time, when submitting a post, everything stalls and in the small bar at the bottom of my screen it says “waiting for forumosa.” I timed it today, and it took 56 seconds for my post to go through, and 8 seconds just to open the feedback forum index.

Does anyone else experience this?

The above post took only about 3 seconds. :idunno: It doesn’t always do it, but when it does, it’s roughly between 12 and 2pm.

Posted at 1:15pm today. Check it out:

Yup. Me too. Screwed up a post in the food forum. Couldn’t moderate. Too slow. Several days now. Weekend was impossible.

I know that Malc has been talking to our webhost for the past few weeks.

That said, please do post or let us know a bit about the kind of connection you use (bandwidth and provider). We might very well see patterns.

This doesn’t mean our webhost is off-the-hook (you don’t seem to have these problems with other websites, do you?), but if we do see patterns, there may be other adjustments to make. There have been times during this stretch when Malc will complain about the accessibility, and I’ll go check and it’s fine for me (I normally use broadband from Shanghai on the China Telecom service or by proxy via the UK). I don’t visit the forums as often as you and Malc do, but it could be revealing.

Yep, seems to be saturated around lunchtime.
The mods can easely see peak traffic of course but would this result in less bandwith - access?

I use Firefox. I have no idea about bandwidth or provider. Websites arrive in my computer as if by magic. My computer is blue, by the way. The one in my other office is black. My wife’s notebook is also black.
Only F.com is affected. Other sites work perfectly. F.com is affected on all three computers I normally use. No other sites are affected.

I also use Firefox, and I believe my provider is Chunghwa Telecom. 100Mbps. No other sites are affected for me either.

I’m having no special problems with Forumosa. I use Firefox and a local cable provider.

I’m having connection problems in general, but that’s nothing to do with Forumosa specifically.
