Waste Metal... at what price do they sell at the moment?

Hi ppl,

I’m new at this so I was hopping to get some help here. I have 10,000 tons of waste metal (recycled metal) that I’d like to sell to Taiwan. However, I have no idea what price. I have a buyer now but I’m not sure if he’s offering the right amount of money. There isn’t much info on the price in Taiwan. 10,000 ton is worth around 130 ~ 150 million NT but is there a site or something that tells me the exact price? I’m just trying to figure out how to get the most out of it.

Thanks in advance!!!

No idea where you could look for prices, but I’ll tell you one thing – if he gave you a price a week ago, that price will be much much higher now. Raw material prices are through the roof, construction companies are dropping like flies because they can’t get rebar or copper wire.
Rebar, for example, more than doubled in price within the space of a week, and that was just last week.

They say it might delay the MRT construction. That would suck. I wonder if Taiwan will still buy the radioactive stuff.

Depends who you are selling to…broker, smelter, aggregator.
Are your scrap pre-sorted and graded already?

Also I hear the PRC is offering better prices as well.

You just need to make sure every transaction is profitable.

Trying to maximize profit on the first transaction when your “new” to the market is a daunting task.

If you really want to get some experience, divide it into 3 lots, then try to sell them.

Just keep it in a safe place or it gets stolen …

I think the person I’m trying to sell it to is a ‘smelter’? This company buys metal and melts it and then resell it to construction companies. The scrap metal is sorted and they’re graded quality 1,2, and 3. Most of the quality sold will be HMS 1 and 2. I know a few people who are selling scrap metal to PRC but I have no idea what price they are paying (and they’re not telling hehehe). Are they paying more than ROC?

Thanks again in advance!
