Water Pump Price

My friend was driving my car up in the mountains today and the water pump failed. I was wondering if, before I ask a mechanic, you might know what price range I should be looking to pay to replace it. I saw in a previous post that someone mentioned about 1500 NT.

In addition, I thought this might be a helpful topic to post prices not just for water pumps, but any car repairs anyone with a car will inevitably have to fix. It could serve as a reference for anyone taking their car in to know if the mechanic is trying to charge waiguoren prices or keeping it reasonable. Just an idea. Thanks.

It’s really difficult to say…Too much depends on the type of car and how difficult the water pump is to get to. A domestic Toyota or Ford might be in the 1,500NT range, but on my truck for example it would be an extremely labor intensive job. The labor alone would be more than that, not even including the pump itself. A Volkswagon or Volvo water pump could cost as much as six times that of a domestic car.

1,500NT for the part or the job? Either way, that’s pretty cheap. Is the pump a factory part or a locally made unit?
