Water Shortages?

One of those things, what we dont have… I never understood those northern folks complaining about always raining. Tough life, living around green jungles year round hehe.

I crave having a western and eastern LARGE water line running from the north down to the south.

The irrigation ditches at the farm I posted above are about 2 meters wide and high and travel about 20km to reach that farm. They don’t release water 6 months out of the year, so just rain water or hundreds of thousands for a well, which is hard to register for now.

Oookay, I’m not gonna comment that. Definitely not my sense of humor (convenience store owners, please take notice).

What are the year round weather patterns across Taiwan?

You have commented about it.

Literally every single valley, township and river has a different microclimate. That questioning impossible to answer outside of a very meaningless and vague answer: hot and humid, moreso in summer :hugs:

Are Taipei and surroundings so much different? I found the temperature there to be very pleasing, almost mediterran.

There are certainly “norms” in the flat lands based on latitude, coastal proximity, industrial density and elevation. But every valley differs a lot. Taipei also has sub alpine. High mountains. Even pingtung has 3000m mountains which can freeze. The native old rhodidendron forests down south and up there are really a spectacular sight to behold!

It’s the reason Taiwan is known for its extreme plant endemism. Of all endemic plant species on earth Taiwan holds between 2 and 3 % , and is a fern Hotspot on the globe. Due precisely to how extreme the country is. It’s the major reason I love this country, really fascinating place naturally speaking!

Takes one bullet train ride and you’ll be there. But please make sure you bring the proper, professional equipment.

Pretty wild right? Back in the day when I saw Sandimen hit 8ish degrees, and if not working, I tried my hardest to get up Bei Da Wu to see the ice in pingtung. It’s a pretty cool thing to see. And the biodiversity in such places is top level

Couple relevant pictures about how extreme and micro taiwnas weather can be.

This type of rain also common in taiwans flat lands. Super heavy super dense. The level of rain is in the 200cm/24h range, but they are moving and temporary. Like an old video game cloud that chases the user. This is about 1km away from some of my fields, which stayed dry and up to 37 degrees dltoday. Dry and wilted plants right next to intense monsoon level rains. This cloud lasted 5 mins.

Upwind, this time north, of said cloud

Have 2 fields flooded, and the rest are bone dry and losing topsoil daily due to high winds and dryness (just tilled).
