My KitchenAid extruder was a gift, shipped to me by my brother. I’ve only used it a couple times, because then I got the KitchenAid pasta roller, which puts less strain on the mixer and is a far nicer machine, and which does different things; that was a gift too but I brought it back by hand; I’ve used it a number of times to make crackers, lasagna, and fettucine, but I wouldn’t say I use it a LOT, because I’ve got so much else going on. Thanks for the reminder though – I’ll have to pull it out and make some fresh herb pasta!
The Pastry Crimping tool from chefdepot.com I’ve used a few times, but Dragonbabe isn’t a big fan of ravioli, so it spends a lot of time in the drawer. The shipping probably cost as much as the tool, but that’s the price of living in Taiwan.
I’m glad I’ve got the motorized roller, because unless you’ve got helping hands nearby, it’s going to be hard to feed the dough in with one hand, catch it with floured hands as it comes out, and turn the crank with whatever prehensile appendage you have to spare.
