Just wondering where one would go to meet foreign women in Taipei. I’m going there tonight and would like to go to a place that caters to foreigners. I like pubs, my club days are pretty much behind me.
How exactly does a club cater to foreigners??
Do you have anything to offer JD or do you just like to read your own posts?
I never read what I write, as it’s not as funny the second time around.
As for your post, if you had any real idea what it sounds like, you probably wouldn’t have posted it.
As for where to go in Taipei for a few good beers and the opportunity to meet foreigners of all sexes, I would suggest Carnegies.
Have a good weekend.
What JD is saying is that there are no bars or nightclubs catering exclusively to foreigners.
However, should you fancy a night out, off the top of my head I’d suggest:
Starting at Roxy 99 at about 10pm. Then heading over to Carnegies about 1 or so. And then when they kick you out, head for Vibe.
These are places frequented by foreigners, and although not stricly pubs, they’re not Luxy-like nightclubs.
Alleycat’s neither a bar nor nightclub but bluesy pizza joint serving stone-oven-baked pizza and a range of competitively-priced beer and wine also has its fair share of foreign ladies. Although, I’m not quite sure hitting on one of our valued and gorgeous customers while she’s concentrating on her pizza is wise! (gets a plug in)
whitetiger,
There are no specific places in Taipei where you can find hordes of foreign women. If you go to any pubs that “cater to foreigners” you’ll always find a few. Alleycat’s, Carnegie’s, Brass Monkey, The Tavern, The Living Room, The Shannon, On Tap… have I missed any major ones?
If you hang out during the day in the ShiDa area, you’ll run into some young student foreing women, but I’m not sure how you can approach them in that setting. Maybe you can try having brunch at Grandma Nitti’s in ShiDa.
As for your question regarding the Happy Hours in the other thread, the HHs are not the only social event you know. You could join other activities. Also, people here get together a lot more often on their own initiative, regardless of Forumosa events. You could try making connections through this site first and then getting together IRL, after that, things just happen naturally, even if you do live outside Taipei.
Of course, getting on jdsmith’s good side would help. Everyone knows he throws the best pottery parties.

Ha! You beat me to it!
Well, if a guy’s game is fresh, I don’t care how good your pizza is, AC!
But, he’s right, whitetiger, you don’t want to be too forward. In fact, most foreign women in Taipei are pretty difficult to approach, and you definitely can’t use the same tactics as you would with Taiwanese girls. Although, that would be very funny to watch and If you’re going to do that I’ll pay to watch!
… just kidding, I really do wish you good luck!

Tash, you, an utterly gorgeous embodiment of a women, are the reason why there is a growing attraction for foreign women…will you please correct my horrid spelling in your quote.
Thanks,

I will, but you’ve quoted that same part in your previous post…
There’s not a critical mass of foreign women who just hang out about town unfortunately. As some of the other posters suggested, you’d need to bounce around. Most of the foreign women I’ve seen going out on a weekend night are usually with friends.
What no drinking before 10pm?? Say it ain’t so!
This should be listed in the Lonley Planet as a Taipei Night Tour.

D’oh!
Oh. I didn’t realise he meant pots. tash, do you recommend handicrafts as a way to meet boys?

You’re just looking for trouble, aren’t you?
No, boys! Same thing. (Hangover. I was ‘supporting the cause’ last night)
I hear TPFKAT is coming to the curry night. You’ve always fancied him. We’ll just have to find a way to get rid of his date.
But to get back to Zoolander’s question… How would you go about meeting foreign women, Buttercup? I mean, you know a lot of foreing women, how did you meet them? Seriously. (then later you can ask me the same question and maybe we’ll get to the bottom of this)
Pft, I can take her down… The weird Romanian girl with the muscles and the orange socks?
No, the feisty 'Merry-canna with a flat stomach and low-tolerance for alcohol.
But, please answer my serious question from the post above, or we’ll be scolded again for messing up yet another thread.
I too would like to meet more foreign girls 'cos they speak good English (except that Romanian with the orange socks) and can play out more cos they don’t have to do what their girlfriends tell 'em. And because I am one.
Mm, well, lots through work, although that is a risk in EFL. There are those weirdy lifers who seem to think it’s OK not to pay attention to depilation. Birkenstocks. Vegetarianism. Stories of their glory days in Bolivia. It’s a risk. Exercise more caution than if you work in other industries.
forumosa.com There are foreign girls on here. We know other normal foreign girls who don’t spend their days reading/posting krap on t’internet. We might introduce you. Get yourself a wingwoman. People are generally pretty friendly.
I also just introduce myself in bathroom lines. Doesn’t work for boys, for obvious reasons. I would suggest playing out at Carnegies, Alleycats, Citizen Cain or On Tap for starters.
So, seriously, cultivate any friendships you have with foreign women and get them to introduce you to their friends. There aren’t so many of us and we can help you network, if we like you.
Oh, and this line is never going to work: ‘I prefer white birds; they’ve got bigger tits’. (Courtesy of a large Liverpudlian gentlemen in his 60s who was hanging around the ladies’ in Carnegies)
