WCIF geckos to eat my beetles?

Seriously. This apartment building seems to have very few, and I need a couple to clean out a bunch of beetles in some potted plants. I don’t want/have time to go chasing geckos in the park.

Wouldn’t chameleons be better? The geckoes will just run away through the cracks.

My place. Thousands of the feckers, from two to six inches long. Fat basterds, too.

Could be. Don’t know why the geckos would want to run away though: the mini garden balcony is separate from the rest of the house and there’s LOTS to eat, drink, plus greenery and shade.

This one is on me.

Sounds lovely. Can I move in and eat all the beetles?

Frogs are nice. There are lots of varieties the pet stores.

I would send you some, but American geckos would only end up selling the bugs auto insurance.

Are you low maintenance and reasonably quiet? Will I feel guilty if I accidentally crush you underfoot?
I don’t want/have time to go chasing geckos in the park.
Even if you had time and wanted to, the little buggers aren’t that easy to catch, and I’m afraid that is your only option if you really want to try geckos to solve your beetle problem. Just remember to never catch them by the tail. As you probably know already, their tail can come off as a defense mechanism. It just grows back.

We have a ton of them seeing that our house is next to a grassy yard with lots of bugs. I would miss living somewhere where there aren’t many. Just luv them to death.

In any case, geckos are not your best option to control a beetle problem. I suggest you google this. There are effective method to rid your plants of beetles, and geckos aren’t one of them. Beetle invasions can be nasty. A quick search tells me that the subject is well documented online. First, you’ll need to find out what kind of beetles are infesting your plants.

I don’t think geckos actually like beetles. They’re too hard.

If they did like beetles, you can bet that the geckos would have moved in some time ago.

Be VERY CAREFUL when you catch them. The little house geckos around here have very soft, thin skin that may actually tear if you are not very gentle. Also, it is true that the tail will grow back, but severing it’s tail is a very painful experience for the animal and the new one is usually very ugly (the latter is only a concern for pets).

Chameleons are a poor choice for the inexperienced keeper, especially keeping them what I call “free range”. They are not indigenous to Taiwan, very delicate animals and they tend to stress out and die very easily. You would have to find an exceptional pet store to find one of these darlings in good health. They are also quite expensive here.

Straydog has a hairy giant spider with a dozen or so eyes. That should do the trick.
