Being an avid artist in a nation with scant -if any- art supply stores outside of the capital, I am going to make my own acrylic mediums, and glycerin and glycerol are two ingredients needed. A previous post mentioned a chemical supply store, but I am wondering if this is all that is available. Thanks in advance. ---

Thanks. I saw that in an old post, but I do not live in Taipei and my Chinese is not good enough to make calls, so I did not know if it was still relevant. I guess I will give them a try at some point. Thanks again for the info! ---

Warning: This post involves the intersection of two sets that I know virtually nothing about. That is, I know the Chinese language exists, and I know chemical supply outfits exist, but that’s about it. I guess I should note that the blog post linked above appears to be either from 2009 or 2010, so it _may_ contain addresses that have undergone relatively minor changes because of the changes in status of some counties and cities. That is, some time ago, some counties became cities, and some cities became districts. And if I’m not mistaken at least some district names seem to be missing from the addresses in the blog post linked above. But hopefully that won’t be too big of a problem. I found what _appear_ to be some Chinese-language names and addresses of chemical supply outfits on Google Maps pages. The URLs are very long, so I’ve hyperlinked them (hope that works). glycerol and glycerin are the same thing. There are a bunch of chemical-supply shops across the road from Taipei station. I bought glycerol there a while ago. I can’t type Chinese on my laptop here, but I’ll check exact addresses in a couple of days when I get back. However, as mentioned above, it’s a whole lot easier just to order online, especially if you don’t live in the big smoke. ---

I found a few places that appear to be art supply stores. I’ve never been to any of these stores, so I can’t guarantee that they all sell a satisfactory variety of art supplies, and I can’t be sure that they all do business at the retail level. Sorry for the back-to-back posts, but it’s too late for me to edit my earlier post. This appears to be an art supply store called Shih Sin Arts (世薪美術社) in Yunlin County: [http://www.art-tools.com.tw/contact](http://www.art-tools.com.tw/contact) They have a physical address, and they have operating hours, so I _guess_ a person can just walk in and buy stuff.
