WDS Mode, HELP!

So flobbsters…

Moved into my wonderful 6 story house, great right?!? Yeah, but getting wireless all around is clearly a headache.

So gots me a Tp Link router as my main router, one with 3 antennae, then another cheaper model to be my bridge/network repeater.

Problem is (well, are):

  1. My computer thinks its the same router when I try to configure them. It shows that I have 2 identical models hooked up (though, they are two different models with different serial numbers). So when I try to change the settings by going to the routers ip address…its a crapshoot since it could be either router it thinks I am configuring (yes, I know…at the top of the router’s webpage in explorer it says the model number…but during numerous tries, the model number will actually SWITCH from one to another during reconfiguration, lets say, such as changing an ip address…I will be changing the ip addy of the single antenna one, but when it goes through it is the 3 antennae’s ip addy that will have changed).

  2. Goddman thing goes to Chinese when I go to the router’s IP address…so I am not 100% sure of what I am doing half the time, since this sorta lingo is definitely not the kinda Mando I have been studying.

Any help? Any idea how to do this as painlessly as possible? How to change the ip web url to English?

Thanks!

If you would rather have the display language on the routers configuration pages in English, go to the TP Link web site and download the latest English version of the firmware for each device. Then upload the new firmware to the respective router.

Here is a WDS “how-to” on the TP-Link website, it does a good job of explaining exactly what you need to do. I would add that when doing the initial set up, and flashing the new firmware of each device, disable the wireless on your PC and connect to the router via Ethernet cable.
