Web based internal telephone directory

Anyone know of a web based telephone directory that could be set up and used internally for a company? We operate across PC and Mac platforms so web based would be best.

I was kind of hoping google would have someting… set up an account and then submit the details to all staff who could then go in and change/add their details as required - name, title, phone, email, major responsibiites etc etc.

Anything anyone knows of would be sweet.

I have a feeling some sort of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software would do the trick. It’d do a bunch of other tricks as well.

sugarcrm.com/crm/
vtiger.com/index.php
tinyerp.com/
compiere.org/

These are all open source (aka free.)

thx MK… we use Sugar but the issue is all staff have Internet access but not all have Sugar access hence my hope to find a simple google like application.

All I really want is an address book style app that is free, pass protected, web based and cross platform. A gmail account is a little too basic.

All the info is for staff directory purposes… and I hate the idea of forwarding an Excel spreadsheet every month.

I don’t know too much about Sugar, but couldn’t they be given restricted access of some sort?

I love searhing…

corvalis.net/address/
sourceforge.net/projects/theaddressbook/

How about one of those? That first one looks pretty cool.

i have searched high and low as well… and found ‘the address book’ previously… too much of a headache for certain staff… thx tho.

Well, if a globally accessible spreadsheet is all you need, then you could use Google Spreadsheets.

There we go. Some out of the box thinking.

What exactly is the current process. If the above mentioned apps don’t cut it I think you’ll have to be more descriptive.

What is the current protocol for getting things up-to-date? If there are only a few people that can’t be bothered to update the address program, maybe have someone else do it for them.

i think my point has been missed

we dont have an internal phone list and have office worldwide. as such i can access who in country x can help me with project y. an online telephone directory would solve this.

we have a crm but for example - the manager of the line in factory z doesnt have a computer but he does have a phone… etc etc.

google spreadshhets shounds pretty damn good… will lok more into it

You have your own mail system?

Look into LDAP. That’s your answer.
