try ivisit (google it) or go here for an excellent wrap up of your choices http://homepage.mac.com/john_kenn/video.html
Thx amos… seen the site you listed… doesnt change the fact i already have the isite and the wifes folks are scared using one chat program let alone trying to tell them over the net how to set up another… was hoping yahoo was beta testing something with audio and i could steal it …
Rather than asking folks here, fine though they are, you might better spend your time checking VersionTracker:
versiontracker.com/php/searc … x&x=13&y=8
Lots of software for webcams at least one which will solve your problem.
roc
i have been there as well as the usual apple forums with no real solid satisfactory answers… i know quite a few mac users so thought i would try here as well.
iChat/Aim is the best free choice for Mac<>PC conferences. Video and Audio quality is really good.
I did use Y! messenger for Video/Audio conferences it worked quite ok, the video quality sucked, audio was acceptable.
ICQ is supposed to have audio, but I never tried that - and their OS.X client is like using ICQ99b on windows, or worse.
Everything else is Payware.
Ok… update time.
I bought the iSight. Mac set up = wireless broadband/cable - PC set up ADSL.
Yahoo - audio non existent (Yahoo say Mac<->PC = no audio available). Video quality very poor. 2fps only.
iChat - AIM: cannot get either to work, this stage text chat only. However when I talk to another iChat user both video and audio are brilliant.
Therefore - I know my iChat is brilliant to another Mac user so I can only assume it is an issue at the PC user end with AIM. Any thoughts?
Have you tried MSN Messenger?
I’ve tried all video chat programs and have found that MSN Messenger, from my experience, is the best so far.
Just try ivisit.

MSN Messenger for Mac has NO option for video or audio… I assume it has something to do with Microsoft refusing to support Apple.
amos - yeah tried ivisit but the quality is terrible. You on iChat?
AWOL, not on ichat yet mate. Everyone who I conference with uses a PC, so I’m stuck with texting until a decent cross platforming im client arrives supporting decent video and audio between mac and pc.
And thats the frustrating thing - Apple tout the iChat<->AIM cross platform solution as the best way to do it. Annoying as hell. Took them years to release the iPod on Winblows so… might be waiting a while…,
We bought an iSight as well when it first came out. iChat works amazingly well but no one in our family uses OSx so the only other choice that worked was yahoo. It’s not really acceptable as a video conference tool but to show Grandma some real time pictures of her grand daughter it works fine. Thought of setting up a webcam but haven’t found suitable software yet.
Looks like you’re set up on your Mac…the newest version of iChat AV will allow you to do video conferencing with XP users who a) download AOL Instant Messenger 5.5 (I think?) and b) the OS software update thats available on the AIM site. I was able to get it to work with my brother’s PC and my powerbook.
Also, for those who have G3-equipped macs running at below 500mHz or are too poor to buy yourself a proper firewire camera, you can install this piece of software
ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/
It allows you to use several different USB cameras with iChat.
Good luck on that…

Weird, I have friends with Mac, seems: they have always told me that the audio doesnt work with yahoo/aim.
Their Macs r around two years old.
Thank you for the above post, :)!
