My fiancée is convinced that when you get married here the labor insurance, pays you you to have 7days off. Thats what she gets anyway. Apparently it’s called 婚假.
My HR department have said that I’m not entitled to it and basically i should be grateful because i get more holiday than the locals. A whole 14 days lucky me!! :grrr:
I’ve searched the English section of the Labor website and can’t find anything.
Anyone come across this before? Just want to know if this is an automatic entitlement or a nice gift from you boss?
I got it, and I then had the grand total of 15 whole days annual leave.
Depending on how much you like your job it might be worth getting the little lady to contact the Labor folks. The HR dept’s answer sounds like sour grapes sprinkled with pure shite to me. Anyway, that extra week is supposedly for all the added dramas we have for just being foreign.
Actually, it may not be quite so dramatic, I mean it wouldn’t be the first time HR didn’t grasp the finer points of the labour law. Depending on your circumstances I’d suggest talking with HR and telling them you checked and are indeed entitled to 8 days leave. Better still, get a printed copy of the law, ideally in Chinese and English from a website or some such and flash it in their face.
