This has got to be the coldest October in Taiwan!

When I was in Germany it was nice and cool during the summer with nights feeling really chilly (for a Taiwanese anyways), and then I came back in September which felt like hell, but then early October it really felt cool after the typhoon “hit” and it’s been that way since, and from what I heard it’s snowing in Europe (the place I just came from too). They said its unusual to snow in October in Europe because they don’t usually snow until November, and then next week it’s gonna get really chilly (13’s) AND a typhoon coming near…

weather has been really weird this year don’t you think?

Does anyone think snow in Taipei isn’t a dream anymore?

It has been a relatively cool year and the temps have been declining the past decade. Where I live in the states we only had a few 90-degree (fahrenheit – I’m not hip to the celsius yet) days during the summer. This had led some people to believe in “global cooling.” :eh:

I don’t mind the cool weather, but it’s been wetter than the usual autumn. I have always looked forward to Taiwan’s cool, dry autumns.

Cooler temps for Fall and Winter are always welcome with me…Summer was very hot and humid in Taichung this year…the heat came back in April and maintained until the recent typhoon passed and put us in ‘Fall mode’…13 degrees isn’t very cold and I wouldn’t be against even lower temps…anything but being moist and sweaty 100% of the time.

I can’t say that I liked the hot and humid temp in Taipei either. The two months in Germany was like paradise because average temperature was around 25 during the day and 15 at night, and 60% humidity. Only thing that sucked was that it rained all the time…

It did caught me off guard though by not wearing as much as I should (I love cool weather) and I ended up having cold twice while there.

It snows a couple of times a year on Yangmingshan, usually.

13 degrees on Sunday? That going to REALLY please the couple at whose outdoor wedding we’re playing that day!

An outdoor wedding at 5 in the morning? You need to take Forumosa’s very own Chicken Little’s forecasts with a grain of salt.
13 degrees is no doubt the lowest estimate for a nighttime minimum. Daytime temps will be comfortable.

God, I hate complainers!

Nothin’ peeves me like a whiner.

And what REALLY sets me off is when people complain over nothin’!

Only thing worse than that is nagging!

If you’re compelled to complain, state your case and LET IT GO!

But if you feel forced to bicker, at least do so in a civilized manner!

AND PLEASE, DON’T SHOUT!

Only thing worse than shouting is grumbling.

If you must express your dissatisfaction, and I doubt it’s necessary, at least make your point clearly and move on.

And by “move on” I mean “move on to another, hopefully more optimistic, topic.”

Ehem, remember to take advantage of these two days to:

  1. Take out winter clothes from storage and air them, preferably in the sun.

  2. Put away short sleeves and other short attire

  3. Make sure bed covers, blankets and downs all are up to the coming task. Buy more if necessary.

  4. Store fans and take out heaters. Check dehumidifiers for repairs.

Why is everyone so obsessed about the possibility of hitting 13 centigrades next week? My relatives talk about it, my colleagues at work complain about it, then random people on the street and Forumosa lol.

Well, I guess it’s my first “real” fall/winter here in Taipei. I’m still complaining about how hot it is in Taipei after having moved from northeastern US.

Cuz 13 C is pretty cold when you are used to 30c. And that 13c is the same inside your house as outside it. Not a lot of central heating that really works.

I get uncomfy at 21c and turn on my heater here in the bay area so i can have it at 24c inside.

Its nice when your home is warm and you dont mind it cold outside. But Taiwan, its all cold, inside and outside 24/7 in winter.

Because catfish13 13 degrees is cold when you have no insulation or heat. You go live in your garage when it’s 13 degrees in the NE US and tell us how is goes. :laughing:

Look, I come from a place that is 21-21 degrees all year long. I find it so rude that here we go from 30 to 13 degrees from one day to the other. So unconsiderate! :fume:
