Weird on-line radio caching problem

Oh flippin’ flip!

Still no joy, no matter what cached files I delete.
I’ve got to the point where I download the rpm file (which is just some sort of pointer to an ra file anyway) and open it in Real Player (minus the web page). The good thing about this is that I’m now free to forward and rewind as I wish, instead of being limited to only jumping forward (and even that’s only by 5 or 15 minutes).

BUT… I’m still listening to a show that’s weeks old. Grrrr!

Any chance your work has a caching web proxy? Some companies have one built in to the firewall which is active even if you have no explicit proxy settings, but it’s worth checking the proxy settings on the application. If the application itself doesn’t have proxy settings it usually uses the settings from Internet Exploder instead.

By the way, if you still think it is something cached on the computer itself, give Crap Cleaner a try. It’s pretty good at nuking pretty much all temp files.

Exactly what I was thinking initially.

Yes, my Real Player will ONLY work with our proxy settings (I believe it’s currently set on auto, which as you say uses the IE settings).

Hmm… sounds good, but my IT boys are pretty anal about installing stuff like that on my work PC.

Thanks for the info. I might try experimenting with the proxy settings and see if I can do something that I haven’t previously tried.
