This weekend is the end of Wendel’s in Tianmu. Doesn’t seem like they have any plans to reopen elsewhere for now. I think the rent on the property has gotten too high among other issues. It really is quite large and the second floor doesn’t seem to get used at all by customers, seems like a waste to…

[image] lostinasia: Weird what’s happening in the Zhishan area The rents are too high. Shilin is having yet another real estate boom, new science park advertised on every real estate ad, new TOD being built next to Jiantan and Shilin stations. There will be more people coming to all these nei…

What’s TOD? And where will the proposed science park be located? Is whatever new stuff you’re talking about close to Shilin station? I mean like, right next to it? I can see that there are a couple of major construction projects happening right there, one used to be a parking lot and the other was …

Haven’t tried Hagar’s or Lasagna Bar yet. Another place in the area is Hala Chicken. Honestly, I liked the ones that were downtown, but the Tianmu one just doesn’t compare. Comparatively the service is lousy, they only have like half of what’s on the menu at any given time, and the prices are higher…

[image] afterspivak: I still eagerly await the reopening of <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+Lasagna+Bar+Tianmu+%E5%A4%AE%E5%BB%9A/@25.111994,121.5271859,17z/data=!3m1!5s0x3442ae85a745e8ad:0x47a22ea64518a5d7!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x3442af660d81a213:0xa456759db08d2fcc!2zVGhlIExhc2FnbmEgQmFyIFRpYW5tdSDlpK7lu5o!8m2!3d25.111994!4d121.5271859!16s%2Fg%2F11ry0n3kg4!3m5!1s0x3442af660d81a213:0xa456759db08d2fcc!8m2!3d25.111994!4d121.5271859!16s%2Fg%2F11ry0n3kg4?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDIyNS4wIKXMDSoJLDEwMjExNDUzSAFQAw%3D%3D" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">The Lasagna Bar on Shidong Road. I think that’s what it is, but I have no idea what it is. It means dead in German so maybe that’s what it does?

Probably haven’t been to Wendels for around 6-7 years now, it used to be our goto place when we had visitors but it just seemed to hike its prices at one point and we switched to Eddy’s instead.

I used to like going to the weekday lunch buffet that they had, it was just over 500 including the service charge and you could chill there for like 3 hours and just pig out, pretty good value. Once the pandemic hit Taiwan in 2021, that was the end of that.

For Zhishan area I pretty much only eat at that hot pot place next to the MRT station… pretty good value, even pig out amount of food for under 300.

The Vietnamese restaurant is really good, exactly at the half way point between both of the zhishan mrt exits. (On the sogo side). There’s a chicken on rice dish which is very addictive. (Not curry).

Do you know if that dish is broken rice? Guy
