Western BBQ for Students- What will work or not?

I’d like to take the students of our school out to the park for an American style cookout. I’d like to introduce them to different kinds of food. Some friends say I should just keep it Chinese style citing the fact that Chinese will eat anything as long as it’s Chinese. Have you tried the items I’d like to try? How did it go over.

Hot dogs (western style)
Hamburgers (pork burgers grilled)
Baked beans
Costco or Homemade Macaroni salad or potato salad
Toasted Marshmallows
S’mores.

I can imagine the students looking at the burnt marshmallow and getting sick. Would they try it?

Pickles with mayonaise, relish and ketchup.

Have some Hot Wings and use Tabasco sauce for it.

can you get “real” hot dogs in taiwan. not those 7/11 monstrosities.

What a great idea to take your students out to an American BBQ. You might want to try BBQing a slab of salmon wrapped in foil with butter and lemon in case your students want variety beside pork, chicken, and beef. Also might I suggest some (vegie) shish kebabs.

Now if there was a baseball game going on too that’d be awesome.

Are you living in Taiwan? All those sugestions are yummy but will the kids eat them or is that what you want to have.

Hotdogs can be bought at Coscto.

Seriously… have you shared different foods with your kids. What was thier reactions.

Got some news for you… many foreign teachers take kids to thier homes to bake cookies. My wife and her friends told me that when they were students thier professors invited them to bake cookies. They thought American Toll House cookies were just too sweet.
They don’t like our cookies… Blasphamy.
