[i]Mod’s note: this was split from here: [All poker face
What an awful thread. Some of you need to wake up. How about you ask these people to show you the state of their anuses, so you can really make an informed opinion?
“Gosh, Western people in Taiwan really walk about with a smug self-serving grin.” Would you like to see THAT thread in a Taiwanese based version of the flob?
Self serving behaviour which isolates you from the place where you live should be the first thing you try to squash. Hello internet.
My post was in response to the racist trawling about ‘why’ Taiwanese elders look so sour faced. I believe it was in response to a thread called ‘poker face.’ To be honest it is good that my post was temped. I don’t want to be associated with the racist bullshit posturing that has been allowed to remain as a permanent record on this site.
I think many Taiwanese lego blocks look tired and sad because they have not had the care and handling of western lego blocks. Taiwanese grass doesn’t grow straight. I think the soil is politically apathetic and doesn’t know how to drive properly, let alone queue.
Tommy, thanks for the invite. If I end up in san fran we have to go to The Stinking Rose. You ever been there?
I’ve learned to reassess my temped posts and try posting again without the snark. ymmv.

The devil was in the snark, buddy. I know, I’m ignoring my own advice though. I should find a gentle answer. I’ll go try and beat your angry birds scores, it irks me that I can’t beat some of your surf and turf stuff.
Sorry for the snark. I’m self serving on a personal level. It’s not needed here. Apologies to TG.
Tommyboy, you should go to the Rose if only once. The food and ambiance was excellent. Great place to take a lady. My ex (one of them) carps on about it all the time. But she is married and wants a post marriage slice of the Hill/King. Perhaps it was the garlic… Perhaps it is the douche she married.
ha . Probably both counts. Will see if I can fit in a trip out there.
rarely cross the bridge these days since I live in the East Bay. I think i make it out to SanFrancisco only a handful of times a year now.
Well if you do go, don’t bother with chinatown. I dropped a nasty fart there which I suspect is still influencing local behaviour.
I have a soft spot for old san fran. Toilets without doors at the bus depot. WOW, what an eye opener. Plus Bushman down on the pier. Also where I got my ear pierced. Got super drunk with some Japanese guys. Woke up with a stud in my ear. I wish I could say, ‘great night’ but I simply cant remember a thing.
I see a post like this as OT. If someone feels the OP’s assertion is wrong, there’s no problem with saying so. I do have a problem with posts that try to delineate limits of discussion. Anyone can report posts or PM a mod if they feel there’s a problem with a post/thread, or start a feedback or other thread.

Where exactly does the OP attempt to delineate limits of discussion?
It’s saying, you shouldn’t be talking about this. However the thread exists to talk about this. If someone thinks people shouldn’t be talking about this, there are ways to put that opinion forward while still allowing people to talk about this unimpeded as they should be under the site rules.
How exactly does the OP not allow people to talk about the subject unimpeded?

It doesn’t, of course. He merely wishes people wouldn’t and expressed an opinion as such. Apparently, that’s not allowed, and the mod has decided to delineate the limit of discussion. Its a bash the Taiwanese thread and therefore only Taiwanese-bashers should post, I suppose.
