In another thread, somebody posted that they think an English teaching book that I actually like is utter rubbish. That got me to thinking, what do other people think are good English teaching book series for children. We may all have different opinions and some people may think that a book is great, while others may think it is terrible.
I would like to start off by saying that I think Up and Away is a wonderful series for local children. The grammar focus is ridiculously simple and that makes it easy for teachers to teach. Every unit focuses on only one or two grammar concepts, so it is very clear for students and teachers what is going on. It is easy for teachers to come up with ideas based around the concepts they are teaching. I highly recommend this series :bravo: .

I agree; very logical step-by-step progression. I never used it but considered it at one point.

I like Up and Away as well, but don’t use it as a main book, more as a supplement. As common as it is our school sticks with Let’s Go and to a lesser extend Hip Hip Hooray for most classes in the elementary range. Can’t say i love them but dont know much that works better with our students.
The teacher and class environment is more important than any book anyway, despite what parents think they know.
Good point. And there is no such thing as a perfect book. And if you ever did feel you had found the perfect book, perhaps you shoultn’t teach it as it would make you lazy and jus t teach strictly from the book the whole time.
