Among the climate-themed movies released this year were NOAH, INTO THE STORM, SNOWPIERCER, THE ROVER (from Australia, google it, by director there David Michod) and the upcoming INTERSTELLAR for release in the fall by director Christopher Nolan. Some were good, some were turkeys. Which ones did you like, and which ones had themes that will work to raise awarness of climate issues, pro or con, hoax or science, with the movie goign public, in your opinion?
If you had to choose your favorite climate movie of 2014 which one might it be? And if you bookmarked these movies for best director, or best screenplay or best line of dialogue – like SNOWPPIERCER where Mason character says “You have the misplaced optimism of the doomed. 74 percent of you will die!” – or best actor or actress, Chris Evans, Tilda Swindon? or Russell Crowe or the actors in INTO THE STORM?
What choices for best climate movies of this year – and do you think that these movies make a dent in public awareness of global warming or is it all BS Hollywood entertainment escape stuff?
SNOWPIERCER was on TV last night, Star International. I thought the Korean actor who was into drugs was top actor there. Loved the movie, too. Although a bit over the top, sure.
