What are your favourite film trilogies?

Name them please.

There must be shitloads to choose from but at the moment I can only think of:-
Indiana Jones, Star Wars(Original), Godfather(3rd one was a bit crap, but the 1st two was quality), LOTR(Excellent adaptation), Fistful of Dollars, Back to the Future…anymore?

I can only choose one?

I have many favorite trilogies from different genres.

Like any good threads, this one also has a prequel: forumosa.com/taiwan/viewtopic.php?t=17550

He said ‘them’, so naming more than one should be ok. My favs:

Die Hard (ok, Die Hard 4.0 is just coming out so it’s not a trilogy anymore)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Terminator
El Mariachi / Desperado / Once upon a time in Mexico (without the last one)
Fantômas (1960’s)

And I hope to add the Bourne trilogy onto the list when the last one comes out.

Long list at Wikipedia if anyone needs to refresh his/her memory.

LOTR is the only trilogy I can recall absolutely loving. Matrix was very good. Everything else pales in comparison. I’m not even sure I’d call something with two afterthoughts for sequels a ‘trilogy’.

Fritz Lang’s Dr. Mabuse trilogy
Dr. Mabuse: The Gambler/The Testament of Dr. Mabuse/The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse

Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time trilogy
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly/Once Upon a Time in the West/Once Upon a Time in America

Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Three Colors Trilogy
Blue/White/Red

Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings

Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead

Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I was at the right age for these flics, and they were all great.

Other than that, LOTR.

The Three Amigos

Ditto.

Past that, Godfather I, II, III, and the Indiana Jones Trilogy (although yes, Temple of Doom kind of sucked…).

I have always longed for a third movie following director Peter Hyams 2000: A Space Odyssey, and 2010: The Year We Make Contact, to make a trilogy. But no. :frowning:

Yes, Indeed!
In no particular order or relevance, mine include (i’ve probably forgotten a few)
Godfather, Original Star Wars, Indiana Jones, The Mexico Trilogy (Rodriguez), The Pink Panther, Conan, Samurai, The Bad News Bears. Planet of The Apes…

Austin Powers.

Oh behave baby.

Ghostbusters 1, then 2, then 1 again.

‘Mass hysteria, dogs and cats living together.’

Not a trilogy yet, but…I still love Conan the Barbarian. Arnold seemed to just perfectly capture the essence of Conan, IMO. The follow-up Conan the Destroyer wasn’t nearly as good though. The third is apparently on its way, Warner wants to start work on a remake of Conan the Barbarian this year. I’m assuming Arnold is too busy to take up the sword once again for this one. A shame.

Remake Alert: Conan the Barbarian

Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, Jaws: the Revenge (Trilogy plus 1)

Friday the 13th…Friday the 13th part XI (that’s almost 4 trilogies)

Rocky…Rocky VI (2 trilogies in 1)

Breakin’
Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo
And the long-awaited Breakin’ 3, which hopefully will be made soon…

This series is great! It is funny!

I usually watch the three movies in a row, it makes me braindead with fun!

Braindead, mm…it is Peter Jackson’s early funny horror film.

I think “the dead series” is good, too.

Night of the living dead/Dawn of the living dead/Land of the living dead

I heard that the director is making The Diary of Living Dead.

The Zombie never dies!

The standards, of course: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Fistful of Dollars/A Few Dollars More/The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, LOTR (though I still think it was a bit clumsy at times). I also really like the first three “Once Upon a Time in China” Huang Feihong movies with Jet Li.

The Three Musketeers

Good call. Jason Bourne>Jame Bond.

Harry Potter, of course!! :rainbow:
