“Taiwan Ho” An unfortunate name; when I first saw it, I thought it was a site dedicated to the gay scene in Taiwan. It’s not a great site but I’m sure some people will find it useful.
I’ve got plans for a Taiwan website, but that will have to wait until I’ve finished my current project (I’m working on a new pinyin system).
I visited the link posted here but they do not seem very happy about this poll. Can’t take a little constructive criticism perhaps?
Well if Gus or any one from Segue has some beef with us then they best come out with it, or bugger off like old Magarita did. Either way it’s fine with me. By the way, you don’t see his posts up here anymore so good riddance!
So basically, I think the original point that was made remains quite valid. If you have something to say, great! But if what you have to say is b*llocks, then flibbidyflab off with you.

After looking around there a bit, i see mostly the same half-dozen people writing to one another anyway. I would say keep your little inbred club, I’m staying here
Thanks for the input on the colors and other issues. I suppose I should out myself. I’m one of the mods at Taiwan Ho!.
We’ll most likely make a lot of layout changes over the CNY holiday. By the way, if you have any comments or criticism, constructive or otherwise, you can also feel free to post them over on our board. Popping in, taking a look around and reporting everything you think is wrong back here doesn’t help matters much.
As for your quote from Jake’s post, it’s taken a bit out of context to the thread that was inspired by this poll. Yes, some posters take the piss out each other, but mostly it
I think the name is very misleading. I thought it was about Taiwanese ladies of…loose morals, shall we say? But NO! It’s just another forum talking about beef noodles and teaching English. :?
So we all skipped over to the Ho again when Forumosa was down. Any changes in opinion about the site? At least they did something about the colours, and they’re all super-polite and welcoming, as always. (in fact, that’s why I seldom go there!)
I was appalled to see that some (not many) people would go there and start insulting their site. Very crusty, indeed.
It’s wonderful to have different options for people who like different things. Taiwanho is not my cuppa, but I’m not going to go there and insult them! (I’ll do that here )
For me, visiting the Ho is just too much like Wayne and Garth walking in on Alice Cooper, expecting to find a hardcore party, and finding this ultrapolite Milwaukee speech.
You’re constantly seeing posts like “Well, Saxman, thank you for starting a new topic. Indeed, what you say is true…”
Only on Forumosa could you find a quality thread like our inspired “Fast learner, think I” flounder.
Ah, it’s good to be back.
I found the place quite the opposite - I felt like the place was a bunch of blokes sitting in the pub talkign about the footy. If I wanted to converse with drunks, I’d go to a pub.
But I like their idea of a Chinese-language (or at least encouraging Chinese-language posts) forum. I reckon we should modify the Learning Chinese one to be a broader “Chinese language” forum.
I like T-Ho’s low-key approach on the forums. But, it’s true the volume sometimes makes it a bit too sleepy for me. Forumosa has more of a schizophrenic feel about some things.
What do I like about Taiwan-ho?
It’s always there.
Perhaps, but everyone else is here!
What I wonder about are the esoteric names used for the forums over there. For example, in Forumosa the Events forum is called, “Events”. In TaiwanHo? It’s called “Grolsch” If you look carefully at the explanation below the name, you realize it is for events.
I’m certain this means something to some people, but these in-jokes are a turn-off for me. It’s bad enough that there aren’t many people who will respond to my posts there. You have to drink the Kool-Aid before you get a real grasp of the place.
